The Nature of the Self

The "I" (ego/self) is a unit of measurement given so that by imagining a false existence and ownership in itself, it can measure the attributes of the Creator. Just as a person says, "I built this house, and the Creator built the universe," they understand Divine power through their own partial power. But if this ego turns its face to the Truth, it becomes illuminated and transparent; it becomes a mirror to the Divine Names. If it turns its face entirely to itself, it becomes dense, turns into a pharaoh, and attempts to deny its Lord. Thus, the ego is a key full of mysteries.
